The main element of the work is a series of hands that move up the face, initially gently scratching an itch, but over time they begin to scratch the face more vigorously. The friction of the hands causes smoke to rise from the face, which eventually dissipates, concluding the work.

The work symbolises the process of inner conflict and the expression of emotions. The process of the hands scratching the face violently symbolises the external expression of internal conflicts, while the smoke rising from the face represents the temporary release of these conflicts. The disappearance of the smoke suggests that the conflicts are temporary, eventually dissipating and cleansing.

The installation explores the emotional conflicts that arise within humans, and is a visual representation of the process of emotional release and dissolution.
