“Living Bling” is a video work that combines footage shot at Cheonggyecheon Aquarium Street in Seoul with 3D-rendered aquatic plants in a collage format. In the black-and-white imagery, only the yellow, orange, and red tones of the goldfish are selectively emphasized, quietly hinting at the marks left by selective breeding. The 3D aquatic plants, created by intertwining various goldfish breeds, take forms reminiscent of genetic stripes and are arranged within the aquarium, suggesting the conditions of goldfish born as ornamental beings and completing their lives within an artificial environment. The work offers a glimpse into what has long remained submerged beneath the surface, revealing the hidden side of these decorative presences that have constantly surrounded human life.
